Remedial massage

I’ll often get asked, what’s the difference between remedial massage and Myotherapy? If you see our blog ‘History of Physical Therapy’ you’ll understand how many physical therapies came from massage and massage practice.

Clients who seek remedial massage and have found it useful in the past, often love Myotherapy and seek ongoing maintenance appointments. Whilst remedial massage therapists can still assess and treat musculoskeletal conditions – Clinical Myotherapists hold a BhSc. of Health Science and are graduated ready with deeper knowledge on the musculoskeletal system and how it reacts to injury and creates pain.

Many remedial massage therapists go on to study Myotherapy through wanting to further their knowledge and like-wise all Myotherapists hold a remedial massage qualification as it is a stepping stone and foundation in their education.

Remedial massage is a great tool for preventing injuries for pretty much everybody. Labourers, sports people, office workers, people in prolonged standing jobs, people in prolonged sitting jobs – any body that has to repetitively do something can benefit from a massage.

Massage techniques applied to the right muscles and fascial systems can assist the body in stretching or contracting appropriately and aid in the recovery process our bodies undergo through daily movement.
